The Kiwi is a nocturnal, flightless bird found only in New Zealand's forests and on off-shore islands. There are 5 distinct species of Kiwi and they belong to a group of birds called Ratites which means they have a flat breastbone and no keel on the sternum with which to attach flight muscles.
